Carrera Gt for 375,000?

6400 miles, asking 375,000? Are they depreciating that quickly?

My estimate is approximately two plus years after the first ones are delivered, you should be able to buy an early one for 250-275K. hey should be fairly stable after that.

i figure pretty close to somewhere beween the end of year two production and end of run production they'll pull a GT2 (ie: 30 to 35% off). after that, who knows but the leasing companies are putting $150 to $175k residuals on them after 5 years (yikes). one thing going for them is the euro/dollar which could cause the market to be stronger than it should as a result of foreign buyers swooning in to buy very cheap CGTs via a strong euro.

and yes tuner, 7k miles is a lot right now (especially when sub 1000 miles to nearly new ones can be bought near $400k) though it might not be later.

i never really understood why guys bought new GT2s with the beating they took used, but i do now. iow, i knew it was going to be ugly depreciation wise, but wanted it. then again, with my non-refundable $50k deposit, it's not like i would have come out much ahead passing on the car (with the relatively rare color combo i wanted) only to buy it later for say $25k less (@ $375 = slightly less than $448.3 paid less $50k deposit and mine didn't come with 7k miles).

yep, i've not had one regret or feeling of buyer's remorse since the day i took delivery of it. everytime i see it in the garage or take it out for a cotton mouth enducing run, the price paid (or current value) never comes into consciousness. sure i'd rather have paid $50k less and would likely have waited the few months to get that savings if i had it to do all over again.

Ben, as you know ,many spend hundreds of thousands of $$$ in depreciation every couple years on very expensive " exclusive " cars which never pan out after the initial "warm and fuzzies" subside. The Carrera GT is belatedly being acknowledged in the auto world as the truly transcendent streetable car experience of the current era . You may not find something that is this total " package" for a long time . You should hold on to it.

Ben, that car is a keeper. If I could pick one (given the choices today), that would be it.

It is to bad they overbuilt the Carrera GT. It seems its following the Gallardo for rapid depreciation. You know that wholesale on Gallardos with low miles is $125-130k!!! How would you like to have been purchasing 6 months ago for $184k!! Allan you don't have a Gallardo do you.......or just the Diablo right now?

And btw, the 2004 cars, when released, were 165k cars. Later they had a price increase. Also, when it comes to being sold new, certain color Gallardos still bring Msrp, such as orange or the new lime green.

I could buy a new 2004 right now with a list of $184 for close to $150k, used is even worse. Obviously I don't doubt your statements regarding lime green and orange as you certainly would know the Lambo market better than I. I just meant in general they are REALLY depreciating badly and some evn paid over MSRP initially. Porsche really is no better, overproduced, too similar cars, equals rapid depreciation.

Oh well, better just keep that Diablo that may be the last of a rare breed of cars that hold their value. Seems to be holding steady in the $155-160k range for 2001's!! That's not bad at all.

Both Porsche and Lamborghini ought to look at whatever Ferrari does becuase they know how to keep their customers safe. Oh well, I guess the days to build cars for a select few entusiasts is coming to an end Cheers

Lou

what Ferrari is able to do now has taken years and years of time to develop. Porsche couldn't do it if they tried.

Personally, i hope Lambo, or Porsche for that MATTER never do what Ferrari does. Ferrari creates false markets. Legal thievery between the factory and dealers.
