GT2 master/slave mod - can anyone confirm?

I'm getting the whine from the PS reservoir and I'd like to fix this soon (my accumulator is also starting to fail). I have spent hours reading the various threads about the whine, the fix, and the GT2 master slave conversion. There is an amazing amount of great information on this forum.

Here's my dilemma - I have seen a few posts that seem to indicate that performing the GT2 conversion WITHOUT changing the reservoir will fix the whine problem because it decouples the PS and clutch. Can anyone confirm that this is true?

If so, then it seems like a no-brainer to spend the money to do the conversion rather than replace the reservoir. The reservoir is nearly $600 and you'll still have the same crappy PS-assisted numb clutch. On the other hand, the conversion is about $600 if you assemble the kit and do the work yourself and you'll have a much better clutch feel at the end of the day. Either of the jobs looks like a reasonable DIY.

Thanks in advance.

It fixed the problem for me. I had the whine and before I had a chance to replace the reservoir my accumulator failed. I went with the conversion and have not heard any whine since then. That was a year ago. Prior to the conversion it would whine every time I took the car out.
