While looking at pictures, I noticed the Turbo front lip has a cut-out at each side that seem to be there for brake cooling. The GT2 front lip doesn't have that. So how does the GT2 get air to cool the brakes?

The lower portion of the bumper has vents built into it and then the front fender liners have larger recesses as well that tie into this, helping to direct air (and actually more air than the turbos even with those vents) to the brakes.
