evo said SL55 pulled away from tip
I saw an SL 600 (I think first in the country) at Herb CHambers in Boston (well Somerville technically)....some customer from FL bought it (not sure how much he paid but window sticker was 137K..)
The point being that an SL55 might be fast in a straight line but get to the twisties and a stock tt of any flavour will say bye, bye!!
Too heavy to be a real sports car, and no option of a stick??
FORGET ABOUT IT!!

the tt cab tip @ 3850 lbs "minimum" is no lightweight. given 45% of the tt cabs are projected by porsche to be ordered in tip, i'd think the vast majority of these won't be track cars. rather, the "pulling away" in a straight line combined with easily 2 to 3X the speed limit cornering ought to be plenty for the typical sl55 (tip tt cab) owner. it's pretty doubtful that more than even a couple % of these cars will ever remotely see the limits affected by weight.
The bottom line here is that we are talking about 2 different cars all together. I will say that most people who buy the Sl55 know that it is not a 996TT and vice versa. But there is nothing wrong with laying back in the SL55 and without effort smoking most cars on the road and oh year "with the top down"...
Just my 2 cents.
