Mine is also a cab, so virtually identical to yours. I'm hearing about a Sachs clutch as well. However, if your clutch is satisfactory, it should work for me as well as I mainly envision intake/exhaust/flash as being how far I take it.

How many miles do you have right now?

You ever consider GT2 slave conversion?

The carbonetics set up is only got 1'' of travel..... if that.. It is not really easy to drive. See if you can drive a car with one first. There are other options out there but try to drive a few. I hard to use clutch will ruin the joy of driving your car for sure...

I really need to try out some GT2 conversions as well asperformacne clutches. Not sure how to do it. Maybe I'll look for a local dealer with a GT2 or 3 for sale.

It sounds like clutch and exhaust will be done shortly. I better invest in a Passport 9500ci as well... I'm getting quoted $2500 installed for it. Reasonable?
You must know that the dealer will know the car was flashed if they look, right? if someone is telling you otherwise, they are lying to you.

Good luck with the dealer, hope they don't look.

$2500? Crazy to me, but I am a valentine guy

My dealer seems pretty cool. Pretty specific in their words, "If the mod wasn't a direct cause for whatever problem, they will cover CPO."

I even called them anonymously asking if I should buy a flashed turbo with CPO, and they replied that it should be fine unless the flash was a specific and direct cause fo whatever teh problem was.

Like the added power from the flash killed it! The dealer will still run it though CPO and ring the register on you.

Years back I heard a mustang guy was drag racing and any factory part he broke he would bring to the service writer and they would run it under some car in the shop. The guy would get the parts even motors and the dealer would get paid on the hours.

i think your spending a bit much for a clutch job at the prices your paying, its 12hr job if i remember right should be about 100/hr at independant shop

DMF + sachs 999 Pressure plate (then find someone to mod the fulcrom) and a gt2 disc is a good route for a stock feeling clutch above 650ftlb of torque and abuse id question its ability to hold.

all the lightweight flywheels will rattle at idle its annoying but we like the quick revs of the LWFW.

atleast get a upgraded pressure plate and kevlar/fiber tuff disc so you can hold a k24/18g setup as this is the next fairly cheap upgrade in your modification path.

the GT2 slave removes the Power steering hydralic assist from your clutch operation so it makes it harder to press the pedal but you get the usual feedback as most cars give on clutch operation.

becareful with dealers they are snakes in sheeps clothing to get you in the doors and then sink their teeth in and tell u warranty is out the window. oh yea it took longer so we gotta charge you an extra 20hrs labor....

The Sachs 999 pressure plate w/ fulcrum mod and Sachs high friction GT2 style unsprung disc will hold 24/18G's with FULL supporting mods (I have everything possible on my car). Also, in cold weather I am seeing 1.4 bar with no slipping at all and this clutch has been worked hard for over 20K miles.

Clutchmasters. They added approx. 1,000 lb. clamp force to the "999". I also have the Sachs race compound disc. This combination has worked flawlessly for me. Also, I have access to all of these parts and the fulcrum mod, if anyone is interested.

I'd offer the dealer the clutch job- at their silly rates- if they will take care of the 2nd gear issue under the CPO. Remember, it's no skin off their nose, since PCNA foots the bill on the 2nd gear. Indeed, they will probably 'double dip' and nail you for the full labor of a clutch job, AND get pcna the full cost of the tranny removal.

But do not agree to a "we'll see what it looks like when we get it out" deal, since that will be "sorry, you car is in pieces and PCNA wont cover it and it is $8000 more" deal

So I took the car to the dealer today, with the thought that he would fix the 2nd gear popout and maybe diagnose the clutch slipping. I would then take it to indy shop for clutch upgrade. The service manager told me that in his 10 years there he had only seen 2 cars with popout that actually needed CPO covered work to get fixed. If they take it apart and whatever the problem is is not CPO covered then I'm paying out of pocket. With those odds I decided to not turn the car in. The popout doesn't really bother me, it happens only every few weeks. Not worth the risk of 2-3k if they look and dont find anything.

As such, I will let the indy mechanic do a fresh look over the entire car in a couple of weeks. I'll finalize what I want in terms of clutch. Then I'll decide on letting indy do the clutch upgrade vs. taking it back to dealer for 2nd gear and clutch install at the same time.

I'd have to agree. Refreshing that he counseled your appropriately....

There is a pretty thorough TSB on the second gear issue, complete with photos of the damaged components and how PCNA will assess the root cause. There was an error in tranny assembly that caused the failure in some, but the vast majority is the fact that the 2nd gear is very susceptible to 'missed shifts' and a few 'grinds' will remove the material that holds the gear in place.

There is a 'fix' that involves changing a detent, that can reduce the issue- while they are there doing the work you might consider it- especially if yours is not bad.
