Help from the Vendors/Members - replacement Rotors (F)

Friends,

I need new front rotors for a 04 996TT. The cracks have gotten too long after last track day. So, I want slotted, but my mechanic suggests, GIRODISC FLOATING SLOTTED ROTOR - @ $600 ea!!!

What's a better, cheeper alternative? I know GM sells their Corvette rotors for $30. What I can do for the Porsche? Help!

TIA!

The Girodiscs will last 2 to 3 times as long as the stock discs for track use. The initial cost is higher than stock but replacement cost is much lower because of the re-usable hats. There is also the weight savings. Plus, when you figure in the longevity and replacement cost advantage, you come out ahead with the Girodiscs.

You can do the Brembo 2 Piece Floating Slotted for $1900 instead! (front only)

Exactly what Larry stated.
Girodiscs are good rotors. When it's time to replace the rotors you can get the outer rings for
~$300. If you track the car I would not trust a $30 rotor.

I track it, but just with Textar pads, the rotors (OEM) are done at 27k. Is that normal? Good to get pricing on replacing the Giros ... that helps.

Now, I'm upgrading the pads (PAGID RS 29), but sure as heck don't want to tear up expensive rotors with aggressive pads ... sheesh-what's a guy to do?

Ok lets look at what you just said, 27k out of the front rotors and you track the car! I think you are looking for "Magic brakes". A trimmed up not gutted turbo is still in the 3500 pound range stopping that will take a toll on brake parts.

Pagid yellows{RS29} are endurance pads and are easier on rotors than most.
