I'm not sure what the GT2 has for stock suspension. My car with stock suspension was nearly undriveable at any speed over 120...after the PSS-9's it is MUCH better including a very boring uneventful trip to 195mph at the Mile last year. I think coilovers and an alignment changes the whole car...worth every cent to do it too...
In hindsight it was probably not the best idea to jump in a car that was new to me and try to run over 200.
Eric,
I mentioned to you before that my car was a bit unstable at only 140-150 or so, and that I couldn't imagine going 200 in it. But I had it aligned the other day, and even though the settings were only a tiny bit off, it's now rock solid at 150'ish. Can't say for sure how it would feel at 200 mph, but it's much better than it was before.
Might be something to consider.

Me - never. I will be getting it done though.
The front end of the car does feel light at high speeds. If, a big IF, I ever run the mile again, the alignment and suspension will have to be addressed. My 206 run was the hairest ride of my life.

Looks like Gary Javo has just released the FIRST FULL LENGTH VIDEO of the crash!
As many have said, it's terrible that this happened, but I'm very glad to hear that Richard walked away!
Props to UGR for building that awesome car, and even more props for not skimping on the safety equipment, which no doubt saved Richard's life!

Seriously, the limiter in 6th lives at 203 and change.
Well, 200+ is pretty damn good IMOI'm still just a lurker, searching for the right deal at the right time (pretty much know what I want, just need to get a few things squared away, find 'that' 996TT and pull the trigger
)Congrats again! (the 996TT Avatar is Deepblue's, while I was storing it for him before he came back from the sandbox and started his mods)
I ran a couple of times on Sunday. I ran 198 and 197 which are close to my best but not quite my best. Eventhough I was hoping for 200, I felt good about how the car ran and felt like I improved my driving over last time. Conditions were not ideal and I feel like the results were excellent for the conditions.
Here is a video of the 198.7 (official) mph run using Track Vision which allows integration of digital video and PBox data (somewhat like a video PBox but cheaper).
Watch the full screen view to see speedo better. I did screw up and cut off the PBox data before the deceleration, sorry...

Hey maybe 1 more octane or a wax will do it!
Theres some drag racers that put track day coverage on there cars for big events I immagine the same could be done with a mile event car.
Their coverage ought to be everyone on the boards calling them to schedule having a cage installed ASAP.
I find most 911s get light front-end at high speeds. I ran my 996 GT2 above 190mph about 100+ times and it's not fun in cross-winds. Also found that the compression joints on the concrete autobahns and bridges can upset the car easily above 160mph. The 997 GT2 was better in that regard. I had the ESP cut in when my 997 GT2 had only 55 miles on the clock after I collected it from the factory and was doing about 165mph through a fast sweeper and a big road joint caused the car to kickup a bit. The 977 GT2 took it in it's stride, the 6GT2 would probably have crashed.
Of the cars that I've ran at these sort of speeds my tuned R34 GTR was mega-stable, with 4 people in it at a GPS 199mph and the most easy comfortable was my Alpina B5, which went 190mph+ in total comfort and luxury.
I only ran my R35 GTR into the 180s but that was very very stable even through max-g fast 180mph sweepers.

Great Vid Mike. Weird that you were so close again. What do you think the deal was? I've heard a lot of factors could affect the run like wind, heat and sticky e-brakes. Who knows.

The thing about a cage is, if you wreck on the street, where 99% of us do most of our driving, and your are not wearing a helmet, then your head will meet steel. That is the main reason I don't put one in my car.
