I have checked this out a number of times now and it seems really consistent. If it is raining I get a definite wobble in the steering wheel from 70-75 MPH and up. Dry roads - nothing.

I have stock size PS2s for rubber with about 10,000 km of use - no track - lots of wear left.

Does anyone else experience this?

 

common problem for some wheels, particularly deep dish wheels...they collect water and it causes an imbalance

 

Interested in seeing what the issue is. I usually dont take the TT if its raining, but sometimes it cant be helped. Have not noticed anything like this myself.

Learn something new every day....Never thought water could collect on the wheel to cause any imbalance issue. I thought it might be the result of undercarriage/body component deflecting water somehow on the steer tire/wheel assembly. Very interesting.....

 

Yup. If you have deep dish wheels, don't drive in the rain or carry rags to sop and squeeze out the water...and then carry hand cleaner as you will now have black, wet brake dust on your hands...or just let it wobble until the water evaporates...a few days later...

 

I guess, I could just keep it under 75...

 

I had a set of reverse lip HREs on my old car that did the exact same thing.

 

HRE's are an easy fix. Most models have a fairly large groove on the inside of the barrel of the wheel. A thin bead for clear silicon in that grove does the trick.

 

Ahhh... so is it the fact that you are accumulating some weight in the wheel barrel? That might explain a wobble a buddy was having with his HREs that had a lip on them too.

LOL... yea looks like there is a reason they design them without the barrels being that large. There must be some kind of aerodynamics going on that pushes the water to make it collect on the barrel.

 

Water in wheels,I have sams problem. Would glueing a plstic or aluminum blade in there at a angle splash it out?
