What was you max hp at last dyno?

Have you run anymore 60-130s?
BHT did not get his tip strengthened...he had it rebuilt to OEM specs, just as I did.

There are several 997 tips (only one or two 996s) that have been rebuilt by Switzer / WhiteKnight and MKB.

Todd, thank you for not naming me after bad107.
I always hear ~500-550 from BHT as being the limit, but every time i talk to evolution motorsports, they swear their tips handle much more power than that...

maybe its in the tune...what tune do you have 007?

maybe one of evo guys will post...

007, was there any warning at all to the problems? Some say you can tell the car is slipping and just turn the boost to where it doesn't slip...but it seems in your case and a few others there was instant blow up without warning...any comments are appreciated...Thanks!

I am pretty sure anyone with a tip doing turbo mods realizes they will have to upgrade the tranny once the stock one blows...$6k isn't crazy when compared to a triple carbon 6-speed flywheel clutch etc...

I think you might be right bad107. When I had my car dyno'd a year and half ago, my awhp was 510; however, the torque was quite low, much lower than I expected, at about 435. She doesn't get the "kick" like others but I truly believe the tune saved my tranny. Still knocking on wood.

So anytime you have a tip and around 600whp its going to blow? I remember Craig had a tip and guessing at least 700+whp and his car seemed to run fine...

I personally think it depends on the tune...I would be very curious to see a evoloution motorsports tune of their alpha tip versus other tuners... especially a tune that had a blown tranny

I agree.

And even if he needed a trans, I wouldn't recommend building one for a car thats driven daily.

You can replace the stock trans with a low miles unit 2-3 times before you even approach the price of a built unit....and the car will have MUCH better street manners with a the stock trans.

Where is there a supply of $2k tip trannies? They are rarely for sale and a good one with low miles will probably sell for close $3-4k.

Everyone with a built tranny is extremely happy claiming no slipping and "PDK-like" shifts.

Ok, assuming it's clutch packs... What would the average cost of this type of repair be? I can't think of anyone around here that would even touch that job short of the 150 / hr. shops.

car-parts.com

use the part request request form. clearly state you have a business address you can ship to, a loading dock and a fork lift. you will receive a few answers with in 48 hours....keep in mind these are USED PARTS, the price they offer is NOT the set in stone price. You shouldn't have too much trouble finding one for 2500 or less shipped.

Being a business, having a dock, and the abilty to unload a pallet will save you a decent amount of money.

I spoke with Ninja boy and he is happy with the upgraded trans from MKB

WhiteKing has a kit for the trans, ask him!
