Misha 997 GTM Front Conversion on Basalt Black Switzer P800
#18
Wow that's a lot of money for the front conversion, I had expected it to be under $10,000 but the job does look A+. At the end of the day do you think it was worth it? It came out amazing in the front.

It's really really nice!
Do you have any shots from the side, how did they fix the front wheel well liner issue and what material are the part made from?
Sorry for all the questions but I'm really considering this...
Thanks!
Sid.

All the mounting points he reinforced with this fiberglass stuff and put rubber gaskets between all contact points in the event of ever bottoming out bumper so that domino effect doesnt happen.

Ya basically on fender liner piece that goes under bumper he trimmed off most of the part that goes under and made his own with abs sheet. The part that mounts at back of fender he moved it outward by making new holes and ran self tapping screws to hold down on bottom side of stock plastic side skirt. This made a 1/2" gap between the 2 pieces so he made a filler out of another liner we had to replace and riveted them together.

Looks great, the gaps look to be pretty much perfect which in my opinion is the tell tale sign of good work. The attention to detail in gaps always is the difference between something that looks nice and something that just makes you say WOW! That being said, it's all personal preference, but to me that hood looks like you stole it off of a GTR and slapped it onto your TT. It just doesn't look right or belong on a Porsche. Way too busy and it looks like it's supposed to be on a front engined car. Sleek smooth lines of a stock 997 hood or even a Gemballa hood with center vent ala old school 911's would have been a much better choice to compliment the lines of the car. That's my ONLY negative comment, other than that, I LOVE the front bumper and 997 front light update!

It's definitely different. I like it better and it might look ok just to have something different. But the raised cowl again is something that you see on front-engined cars so it kinda looks out of place. Also since you've already got the vents in the bumper, it might look a bit too busy with the vents in the hood as well. Here's the Gemballa hood that I think would look great on your car. It'll also really compliment the lines of your rear wing. It's not too busy, but something a little different than just the slab stock one.
Let me know what you think of it, I think it'd look great on your car. But everyone has their own preferences and congrats on daring to be different. I really love your car and have enjoyed watching your build up dating back to when you did the P800 kit. If you like that hood, I know some of our site sponsors can get it for you, infact it wouldn't surprise me if Misha makes one very similar.
