Top Gear America

This show has BIG shoes to fill. I think most of us saw what we expected. This tells why they kept talking about it but never made the show. It could get better in my opinion, for all the reasons above. But I think it's 50/50 now if the show will even make it. The two other guys besides Tanner are comedians. Rather than journalists whom are funny. Always nice to see tire smoke though.

Agreed. It should be a "Version" of TopGear, not an exact carbon copy minus the presenters. A new name for the pro-driver would be great. Maybe an Evil Kinieval type of red/white/blue driving suit.
Should have introduced the show as a "version" and not tried to act like it was the only one on earth. Same set, same tame racing driver, same etc etc...Should have at least made the coffee table with an American V8
I was 6 years old when the "first" season of TopGear came out "TopGear" has been around since 1977 It did not get it's HUGE popularity until the combination of the 3 current cast.

Wow you guys are a tough audience. Give them some slack, its their first episode. I think this was by far the best car show I've ever seen on TV in the US. I will give them two big thumbs up.
If any of you have watched Battle of the Super Cars with Tanner and Paul Tracy, this show rocks compared to that corney mess of a show.
I am hopeful that the History Channel will contiue the show for a second season.

Went to watch it after reading this thread and expected it to be horrible. Not too bad actually in my oppinion. It was still entertaining. The problem is people will keep comparing it to Top Gear UK and it will never live up to the original.
I would rather have this show as an option rather then only muscle car/truck/antique car shows.

Anybody else see the second episode tonight?
I thought it was significantly better than the first episode.
The first episode seemed a little forced and awkward at times.
A little bit of political incorrectness seemed to be popping up this week. Americans making fun of the British (also maybe blind people, a little bit...).
I guess a lot of the elements I disliked from the 1st episode were missing in the second.
I was entertained.
Let's hope the steep learning curve continues.
Besides, Season 16 of the real Top Gear is still a month or two out (Early 2011, whatever that means).

it was muuuuucccchhh better. The evo segment was fun to watch and tanner is just a beast! The blind guy doing what he did was awesome as well. They seemed a lot more relaxed overall and just having fun instead of the awkwardness.
