Turbo swap install question
Turbo swap install question
Hey guys, My buddy and I are in the middle of a turbo swap on his 04 cab, and I had a question I wanted to pose to the gurus out there. The swap is going great so far, exhaust, i.c.'s headers, turbos, are all out, but I was curious about the best way to swap the threaded studs from his older turbo's onto the new ones. I'm referring to the studs that are used to connect the headers and the exhaust (cats) to the turbos.
My buddy bought Deepblue's monster UMW system that was for sale on here a while back, and we can't wait to get it going! Removing the turbos was actually much easier than I thought it would be, really not hard at all if you remove the lines in the right order. I'll post a detailed diy with pics after we are through.
Below is a pic of the progress so far. Man, I wish a had the room for a lift in my garage...make the job soooooo much easier.

Thanks Chad! That is a great idea to use a jam nut. That should work perfectly. Yeah, we are having a blast doing this project. My car will probably follow with some k16/16g's!
Thanks guys....one question though. Even if we buy new studs, we still have to screw them in somehow and get them nice and tight. Other than the jam nut method, how do you guys install them so you know the studs are threaded deep/tight enough? Thanks.
