Driving a Porsche Vs average joe mobile
I was on the Domestic side for years... and although I never thought people were jack wagons for driving a car I didn't care about or even afford at times; I did find myself asking each and every time why would someone pay so much for a car and was thinking even though they are great looking machines... they aren't all that (never driving one of course). Well, after riding in a few and driving a 996TT... I changed my perspective and opinion on these bad boys. I now just tell people that give me hard time to go drive one before knocking it and they too might understand it is a step up and you pay for what you get in this case.
Had I only known, I would have purchased one years ago. ~Forehead Smack~

If you have a 996TT, I don’t really know how many people “actually” don’t care about what other people think of what they drive. For those that can afford a better car but still driving a 1990 Geo Metro, they really don’t care.
I do care about what people think about my car. I enjoy compliments from strangers (and I get this all the time). It is the same feelings that when people compliment the look of my kids and how well they are doing in school. A little good feeling goes a long way.

You think driving a porsche gets you attention...try driving a lambo murci around town
... you have a crowd of people around you anytime the car is stopped and even girls seem like they are into the car asking what it is and whatnot...when you pull up in front of the club and pop the door up, it's game over haha
...necks break everywhere
bottom line is people will think what they think regardless...sure there are those that get these cars for the flashy bling factor, then there are enthusiasts like folks on the forums who love driving, demand most out of their cars and the driving experience, enjoy the track, like to mod a few things, and admire the cars for what they truly are...engineering art!

For me I'll basically drive anything that's fast and could care what people think. My family supports/respects my decisions with the car (though dad did like to argue with me about stuff, even though he had no clue about late model cars). Sadly one of the things I miss already was dad bothering me about the car. My friends like the car and if they have a problem I really don't care. At my buddies "going away", to Austin, party he made a huge deal with people moving their cars so I could park in the back with our other friends Vette's and F-bodies. It was funny because I parked at the end of the driveway because that was the only spot open (he has a big circle driveway a part that goes to a big part in the back). I didn't care, but to him it was a big deal, but he's been in love with the car since I brought it home. He had just gotten his 07 Z06 and was wanting to trade it in even though stock for stock his was faster LOL!
When I had the CCW's with drag radials and front runners on with the straight pipes I got some weird looks, but I did have a few people tell me how bad *** the car sounded. I've had the straight pipes for 2 years (they weren't on 24/7, but I had them on occasionally) and never had anyone comment on how it sounded until I had my CCW's on.

Actually there can be a BIG problem if you own a business....most of your employees won't think good things about you. Sure there is plenty of smart people too.
This is why I don't drive it daily and noone but my relatives and GOOD friends know about it.
Those who know (Friends and relatives) about it are actually happy and enjoy going out for a run in the car, or coming with me at track events..
I heard the most stupid comments (coming from unknown people or guys that barely know me) on me and my supposed incomes while driving the car (parked for a coffee or whatever..).

That's because the general citizen watches TV and do not know any better. They have seen too many rap videos.
Sounds like what happens every time I drive my GT-R. No joke.
Thanks fellas, yes i own a buisness and will plan accordingly...the thing is with facebook being a staple in society word travels fast. Im going to take rims off the cadillac and use that as my daily, my m3 is too flashy

IMO owning a P-car doens't always mean being rich. Especially used ones. Yes they cost a lot in maintenance and other stuff, but there are many common hobbies that are more expensive than maintaining a P-car.
I'm not rich, I have to work hard for my money (I'm a professional), and the Porsche still costs me a bit of effort.
And I go mad when people don't realize that I bought a 50K Porsche instead of a common, smelly 50K diesel BMW (which my city is full of)....
I'm sure it's a bit different in US, just because money flows more and all goes at a "different speed"..
Ahah...not to mention those idiots that mock me for having a Porsche instead af a Ferrari lol...
I'm always one of those in the crowd shooting pics!

But ppl don't get a "supercar" with some years on it, isn't that expensive vs a 2011 transportation module of generic brand. I still had ppl asking "that's a 100kUSD car right?". And yeah it was, back in 2002.
