Driving a Porsche Vs average joe mobile
question
you drive a car most men dream of, for you first time 996 owners : how has your experience been owning one ?
seeing that most are financing/leasing hondas/corollas or sharing a car with sig other.
How has owning a porsche impacted your peers feelings? hate? envy? respect ?
I told a cousin of mine im buying a porsche and he said " no way " and didnt believe me. Is this car the root of evil amongst your peers

There are people who are impressed and think better of you... and plenty of people who think "wow you must be one of those *******s" and are bitter towards you. Unfortunately its a love/hate thing. To be completely honest with you I hesitate and even try to hide the fact that I own a Porsche. I think partly because of my age I see a lot of the "*******" reactions. Its pretty sad. My best friends try to flaunt my car WAY more than I do. I don't like it because that's not why I bought the car. It is what it is, can't really think about anyone else.

^ You're absolutely right. I wish more people would see it that way. I think the branding Porsche has done for their image really has people assuming its more than that. I mean yeah its not a Honda Civic but this isn't a million dollar car here. I don't see it as a big deal but most people are retarded.

I drive what I want and don't give a crap what other people think. My family and real friends will always support me regardless of what I drive, and those are the only people whose opinions matter to me.

If I was overly concerned of what people thought I wouldn't have bought it because trust me people are not going think better of you because you drive a Porsche. I just wanted a hot rod that's fun to drive. Unfortunately I have to live with the image of being a Porsche owner that goes along with it.

I will tell you though one unforseen thing I have definately noticed is that the women of all things realy like the Yellow Turbo. I have never before had complete strangers come up and tell me that sure is a pretty car. All the women im my household were pretty supportive of the car/color combo, a lot of their friends from 14yrs old on up have positive comments like "love the new car".
Most of the time Women/Girls could give a crap about cars, but they like this one?? Strange complicated creatures.....

I'm 26 and have had nothing but admiration thus far for the 996tt, from family, strangers, and friends.
The only frustration related to this car was that my aunt approached me over thanksgiving and said "now that you are making some money, you should pay for you mother, sister, and girlfriend so us four girls can go to NYC for a weekend." That really pissed me off. I kindly informed her that as nice of a thought that was, I was not going to just drop $2k+ on a weekend vacation I wasn't even going on.

My other thought on this matter is that at WOT with 1.2 bars of turbo boost (in a tuned car), you won't care one way or another. All you'll feel is joy, and all your passengers will feel is terror .
