What is this vaccuum hose for?
What is this vaccuum hose for?
I was replacing my DVs and I broke the black plastic piece that locks this hose in the white female connection point behind the hose in the pic below. I am having a horrible time finding this hose in the PET and am not sure what this even goes to. Brake booster? I also need to source a replacement black connector lock and can't without a part number. Thanks.
Thanks Joe. I have looked and looked and looked into what the part number is for this hose with the white connection and am still empty handed. They show vacuum hoses in the brake booster diagrams, but who knows if it is the same one. The PET diagrams appear to be colored in crayon by Michael J Fox and are nearly un-identifyable. And diagrams of the vaccuum system on this car are rare as hens teeth it seems.
Update:
The vacuum hose part number is 996.355.575.51. The white plastic receptical nor the black sliding latch that releases the hose is not available by itself. You have to by a whole new hose. The hose runs from the engine bay to the front of the car
The sliding lock is fairly brittle so learn from my mistake and be very careful with this part. I am checking around for hoses in salvage yards to cannibalize this part from. It appears the boxster has a similar connection for the brake booster but the hos is different. If I can fin a hose that is leaking, but still has an intact connection I can rob parts from it. This black sliding latch is literally the size of a dinnermint and just pops right in the receptical, but I may be buying a 10' long hose just for this part.
