This is probably a silly question but how do you remove the 2 plastic square brackets that the front license plate holder is attached to? Thanks.

 

There should be a screw in the middle of each one that expands fingers in a square hole to secure it to the bumper. Once the screws are removed they should pop off with little force in either direction; up / down, left / right.
Do you have a plastic backing plate for the license plate itself. That would come off first.
