I think it was up to Ben's desecration as to why the thread was closed I do not think he was "paid off" or anything.

Here some threads Ben had posted in regards to his Meth setup.

https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...tion-maps.html <-- His review of it

https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...completed.html <-- Pictures of the install and eeprom reader/writer so he did not have to send the car back to EVOMS (and Todd could remotely send him files).

of course, it reflects badly on both parties IMHO...but it is not for the site mods or admins to determine what should be removed and what should not unless the thread violates some forum policy...when a thread like the one being discussed here is removed at the request of the posting member the other members can make their wishes known to the party/parties involved and see where that leads...I think that is what is happening in this thread

Very disappointing. It seems there are SO many "I think Meth is bad" threads, yet when a vendor has an opportunity to try to prove it, for the benefit of the masses, that come here to 6speed, for answers, the "evidence" is gone. I'm sure Ben and Evoms have come to an understanding and I respect that, it's just unfortunate and dissapointing for us that we can't know what happened. I hope Ben gets his car back together and running again, Meth be damned...

There really isn't any big secrets about methanol. The one important thing you have remember is ........ if you get tuned for say 30% meth, you can generally go to higher concentrations later without damage, but if you are tuned for 50/50 and run straight water, you will run lean.

Methanol has a cooling effect, add more methanol shouldn't hurt a thing. Having your motor tuned for methanol and then adding a greater proportion of water will start to lean your motor.

As a side note I had heard from Ben the motor issue was due to a faulty GT3 oil pump that wasn't exactly new as it had been in the car for awhile. It's really hard for EVOMS (or anyone) to build up a good reputation and it is really easy to tear the same reputation down with BS rumors. From the looks of things all I see is rumors.

Well that sure was a waste of a post.

Here is what Robert Boreham of EVOMS said about this and this is why many would like more explanation.

The oil pump did fail, it failed due to Ben's meth kit. Ben is actually lucky that the pump was losing oil pressure before the engine completely
failed. He was warned about his meth kit by other tuners. There tons of details of what Ben was doing to his engine that lead to the failure that he is not telling anyone. Like I said before, I can get into details of what cause the failure of his engine...but I will not until Ben gives me the green light. He has not as yet.

As for EVOMS looking into water/meth injection...we have no plans to do so at this time.

Cheers,
Robert Boreham

I really have a hard time seeing any connection between a failed oil pump and a methanol kit. Would someone please enlighten me? I have a real hard time believing this was said.

flash,

I guess it is possible someone could say that, however from what I know about these motors and water/methanol kits it is a physical impossibility and I wouldn't put any credibility in such a statement. If someone wants to back that statement up ..... great. Otherwise, I wouldn't waste anymore time with it.

Then again maybe I just getting too old.

[QUOTE=flash68;3077347]Well that sure was a waste of a post.

I am sorry for not able to make you happy with my statement because your opinion matters the most. After all I don’t have as many posts as you so I wonder who post more wastes.

I guess if the....oh well, forget it..not even worth it... Can't be mad at Evoms, as they are complying with Ben's wishes. Can't be mad at Ben as it is his perogative to keep this his problem. My car has been running 100% Meth for a very long time with no ill effects, not gonna get all worked up.

I think people like Mike, myself, and countless other users and interested users of meth were looking at this as a great opportunity to get real world info from a reputable successful tuner (EVOMS) and a known highly modified car such as Ben's.

You are right sir. I will stop with my meddling now. Those of who know and have used meth on these cars successfully and appropriately know that meth is hard to blame by itself if done properly.

Cheers Mikey boy!

If a a car that was tuned for methanol (or a higher percentage of methanol) had it's injection mixture changed to let's say a greater percentage of water then detonation could be a realistic possibility. The change would have no effect on the oil pump. You would have to look no further than what is connected to and drives the oil pump.

If the statement was made my guess would be it to be made in error.
