Looking at cars in Seattle? Concerns?

I'm from North Carolina, and we hardly get a whiff of snow.

I am currently looking at a car from Seattle with about 30k miles. Should I be concerned about rust, corrosion, and acid rain? It's my understanding that Seattle doesn't use salt on the roads in the winter, but the 2008 winter was brutal. I think this car may have been garaged.

Any advice appreciated.

Not at all. They hardly use any salt- rust isn't really an issue. And no sun damage like in the South West.

Great place to look for used cars!

I am originally from the Pacific Northwest (Portland OR) and while it rains plenty in the winter, snow is a rare thing there. 2008 winter was the worst winter I can remember there. In general cars from up there are good due to the lack of sun so you don't have UV damage to vehicles. These cars are typically garaged since most people don't spend $100K+ on a car to leave it sit outside it's whole life. As with any of these cars, if you are serious, get a prepurchase inspection to make sure it's in good shape. They'll check for things like this and many other mechanical and cosmetic issues that the car may have. Good luck. These truly are wonderful cars.

I would have no concerns buying a car that has spent all it's life in the PNW area. Worst case scenario would be water spots which could be easily polished out. Usual rules apply like a thorough PPI.

Thanks for the reassurance, guys!

I feel much more confident about buying this car.
