Porsche 996tt Rental

Not sure if this is the right place to post but have a few questions that anyone is the auto bus should be able to answer.

Can an independent used car dealer rent out a car for a week? I like to test drive a car for a few days before puchasing without having any pressure to buy a car. Ideally, I would like to rent an exotic for 3-7 days at whatever the market price is with the option to buy at the end. Is this possible? Thanks guys.

I dont know about there in Chitown, but here in Los Angeles, there are several high end car rental places. Even Budget Rent-a-car has them. The one near me often had Carrera GT's, Lambo's and Rolls Royces parked outside for rent. I inquired how much it was and the CGT was like $1200/day the 997Turbo that they had was like $600/day. I know that doesn't really help much probably, but they are out there. Now a dealership offering to "rent" it out for a week, I have no idea if they'd be willing to do it. but Maybe. Report back though because I'd love to see that some are willing to do it. I know Sylvester Stallone was given a Turbo YEARS ago for a week just to drive around to see if he liked it. This was by Steve Taub Porsche which no longer exists. But I guess that's one of the perks of being a huge superstar lol Good Luck!

A dealer may loan a car out for a week if you're a great customer, but I've never heard of one renting. Normally, if a car is rented, that appears (or should legally) on the car's title. That would be a major negative down the road, given the popular phrase "drive it like a rental." (A friend of mine got air with all four wheels in a rented Taurus in San Francisco a few years back, but that's a story for another time.) I'd probably buy a salvage titled car before I bought a rental.

Having said that, I think it is very unlikely that a dealer would rent out a car if they are even legally allowed to AND have clearance from their insurance company to do so. As Scott said, there are many exotic rental places that do offer high-end cars, though. Those guys charge a lot because, well, most people renting an exotic will cause greater than average wear-and-tear on a car, and the insurance companies know that as well.

A couple of dealers that I have bought 5-6 cars from always let me take a car for a day or two, if I am thinking about buying. A week? no.
