911TTurbo is infamous around these parts
Question Hi guys - Need your help!!!

I would like to thank you in advance for taking the time to help me with this.

I finally have the time now to satisfy my itch for a 911 turbo, it's been long overdue , so I am in the market and I am about to buy either this 02 or 03 turbo and was wondering if you can give me a list of things to look for and when I am test driving it.

-I plan on spending the money to have engine/turbo compression test at a dealer, is this worth doing?
-Is there something else that knowing what you know now, you would spend the money to test?
-I am very meticulous, so rattling noise, sun-roof noise, something similar to that, if it's a typical 02-03 problem I would love to know to look for.
-Also, the ones I am looking at ranges between 45-55K miles...anything to look out for in the near future?

Whether you're a previous or current owner I would love to hear your experience.

Again, I really appreciate the help.
Mark

Great cars a couple things to watch.

These cars incredible like a 400hp Honda as for dependability, Maint isn't that bad and value is extreme. Currently you are able to get these Super cars a fraction of the original cost. They run great and as long as they are maintained properly 45-55k miles wouldn't scare me if the price is right.
Watch out for 2nd gear pop out, leaky radiators and check hoses as they tend to start letting go about now. A PPI will tell you all you need to know and more, make sure you get DME test showing over revs and such. Don't rely on CAr fax have a paint test performed. Check the rotors sometimes if they are bright red it can be a sign that the car was tracked as the rotors seem to dull to an almost pink once over heated. Check bottom of engine for oil leaks.

These are super fun cars that will run for a long time if properly taken care of. Service records are huge. Good luck and post some pics when you decide. Don't rush into this purchase and now more than ever these cars are coming up for sale.

Thanks...

Thanks YZWilly.

Follow up questions:

-2nd gear pop out: meaning when in 2nd gear it would automatically pop out into neutral position?
-PPI? DME?
-Paint test - I'm assuming it's for indication if there has been an accident?

List so far:

-2nd gear pop
-Leaky radiators and check hoses as they tend to start letting go about now
-PPI will tell you all you need to know and more
-DME test showing over revs and such.
-Paint test performed
-Check the rotors sometimes if they are bright red it can be a sign that the car was tracked as the rotors seem to dull to an almost pink once over heated.
-Check bottom of engine for oil leaks.

Id be under there looking at header bolts and turbo to exhaust bolts, and rear bumper etc to see if there any signs of exhaust being off. Not that its a bad thing but if owner hides it, what else they hiding. Get on youtube or book and find some "what to look for when buying used car" video to get idea of how spot body imperfections.
PPI is good for mechanical for sure. Bought my 02 with 27,200 miles on it and did PPI only ($300+). Never even saw it other than pics, just had it shipped.

Make sure it has had its most recent maintenance done. If due soon use it as negotiation if not done. There so many things to look for that have nothing to do with it being a porsche.
