by that thought process everything would drone, even stock. As long it is close to the cabin volume level as stock and was free flowing I would take it.

Yes my Miltek is 100cell, it was also used so unclear how many miles on it total.

Your best bet might be the PBK- in can probably alter it to your liking as well. Loads of "take off" stock exhausts on eBay if you need a core. Plus as others have said money-back gaurantee! Let us know which way you go-

Quote: So the Europipe has some drone as well?

Hmm...the fabspeed I have has two canisters. Not too crazy loud outside after the car is warmed up, but between 2000-3000 RPM, it is a bit too loud inside the car.
Big turbochargers produce a droning sound. Even a stock X50 has some drone. With our stage 1 there is no drone. We offer a 60mm stage 1 , a 70mm stage 2 loud and a 70mm stage 2 quiet. Customers ask me for advise, then ignore my advise and end up with the wrong exhaust for their needs.

Gearhead,

EP stage 1 sounds perfect for you. I've heard a couple of 996tt with EP1. No drone inside, nice throaty sound oustide and not overly loud. Best exhaust I've heard so far but keep in mind I haven't heard all that many different exhausts yet. I would still say it is slightly louder than stock inside but not by much. Never heard an EP2 Loud or quiet but hoping I get to one of these days to see if I like them as well. Good luck in your search.

If you want the very best it is going to cost you, RUF and EP are the best. EP is actually less expensive than the RUF and a quasi bargain.

How does it compare to your last system? In terms of drone/ volume.

Quote: ... milltek was way too loud for me, then tried europipe2, then a preowned ruf 550 was the best, get compliments for its 'note' all the time, no drone at all (trust me took 5 total exhausts and lots of labor time $$$$ to find this one)
I agree 100%. When I was shopping for a 996tt I drove a lot of cars with aftermarket exhaust systems and finally settled on the RUF with 100 cell cats - NO drone and sounds aggressive enough while still refined. I just didn't want an exhaust that's so loud that it screams "look at me"........However, opinions are like a****les, everyone has one. Make sure you hear the exhaust that you are about to spend big bucks for in person before you sign that check....

[QUOTE=TekNiC3;3117001]So the Europipe has some drone as well?

I've driven the x50 996tt with the large k24s and a Europipe 2 loud and it sounded good at idle or high rpm but had too much drone/boominess when the engine was in the 2200-3000 rpm range. To my ears, it was quite unpleasant... Can't say what the EP2 quiet sounds like.....

Sure the Ruf exhaust is quieter but it is also more restrictive.

Here are the backpressure numbers :

Stock exhaust : 0.36 Bar
Ruf : 0.22 Bar
EP 1 : 0.18 Bar
EP 2 : 0.15 Bar

Measured in 4th gear at full boost near redline.

My Milltek 200 on my X50 did drone slightly at around 2500-3000rpm... not annoyingly, but certainly noticeably - however, since I added Ruf Manifolds, the drone has gone. Must be something to do with the changed flow characteristics, but zero drone now & am very happy.
