I have my eye on another one, though, that looks quite a bit nicer (and completely stock, which is ideal).
Good Luck!

Are there any webpages with good technical info as to what's inside these motors? I have yet to find anything really descriptive about the stock internals of the motor in the 996TT.
And, other than talking to who takes apart these angine as a job, you won't. At least I've not been able to find a precise litterary source about internal components.

One thing is sure, many 996 owners here are running 800-850hp cars on stock blocks.
And Powell ran his TT at 850+WHP for quite some time.
Countless 996's here are over the 500-550whp without problems. John at Speedtech has a 18g TT with considerable mileage on its shoulders, running strong as ever.

As for 996TT engine info and various technical systems and innovations - There was an article on '911' magazine which is a UK publication - it has one of the best articles on the 996TT I've ever read. The article is called "How Porsche built the Greatest Car in the World and Why you need one" - it's a 2007 issue, don't recall the month off hand but later in the year ... very informative and technical but also easy to read and enjoy.

Sunir, great info. It's issue #27.

Here's a link: http://www.total911.com/back-issues/total-911-issue-27/

You can buy a back issue, shipped to the states for under $17.

yup that's the one... I recommend that to any and all 996TT owners...you will learn so much about your car, things about it's design elements from chassis to engine and all kinds of systems Porsche innovated into the car.

McSworley will become famous soon enough
First find yourself a good clean, low mileage, well maintained TT, standard or automatic - your choice. Then call Kevin @ Ultimate Motor Werks and he will set you straight and help you set up your car correctly. Don't waste your money elsewhere, call Kevin and get to know him before you do anything. I wish I would have known him before I bought a performance exhaust system and had my ECU remapped/reprogarmmed, as I would have gone a totally different route with Kevin's help.
