yes, but pca participation in DEs and autocrosses will void your warranty if PCNA so chooses as they did to sean for autocrossing his. PDE is an arrive and drive where you pound their track use only cars that they then sell through pcar dealers with the balance of the factory warranties which are somehow not voided for 100% track use (without even following recommended new pcar break in proceedures).

Well in my opinion, would it not be better to learn on a Porsche which will be much more similar to your car then the cars used at ckip barber such as Dodge Neons

I have done all three, although my experience with Skip Barber (at Lime Rock, when I was driving an Alfa Romeo and his track cars were Alfas) was pretty bad. I found his instructors, at that time, to be as poor a group as I have ever seen. But, again, my experience is dated. As far as DE, it is a very good exercise, much depends on your instructor, but seat time is seat time and the more the better. In fact, I am taking the beast to Summit Point for the first time in May, running in the blue group. I have driven SP in my Boxster, Boxster S and Mini Cooper S (in the rain) and find the track interesting and fun.

But, by far the best experience, and by far the most expensive is PDE. Since I had never tracked a 911, I had my dealer throw in a two day session at Barber Motorsports as part of my purchase of my twin turbo cab. It was fantastic, driving their 996's with world class drivers and instructors. It is the way to go and later take your own Porsche out to the track to refine and expand on what you have learned.

Good luck.

Robert

Your post says "PCA Drivers Ed" and then "PDA". Are you talking about a Drivers Ed ("DE") at a local Porsche Club of America ("PCA") event or are you talking about the Porsche Driving Experience ("PDE")?

The PDE is an excellent way to learn your car's limits and is great training. I'm not a big fan of the Porsche Club events. There are plenty of track days from third parties out there were you can learn at your own pace and have a great time...

Good luck.
Roy
