Just installed my evo DVs...

Well after 4 hours of messing around and enjoying the awesome weather here in NJ, I finally finished installing my EVO DVs. I will say that despite the simplicity of the directions, etc., it was a MAJOR PITA!!!

If I had really small hands or some super fancy tools, Im sure it would have only taken me about an hour to do the job. My struggles were with the 2 rear DV Clamps. Instead of facing me, they were facing towards the front of the car. For those that have not seen how crowded and cramped those DVs are, it's really tight back there...even after removing some of the hoses, etc.

Because you need ample leverage and strength to squeeze the clamps and pull the DVs out, it was a ***** (near impossible) trying to get back to the 2nd one.

For those that had the clamps facing away from you...what was your secret getting them off? Mine was a bunch of twisting and turning! At first I was too careful, but then realized it was very durable and flexible rubber!

Anyway, throttle seems to be more responsive and boost builds up faster.

Exactly my experience who was the moron that put those
clips on facing the front of the car!! I hate those blasted clips! And you have to have tiny little hands to work back there. And yes after a while you just say screw it and start twisting the crap out of those hoses. Definately a pain in the butt!

I had the same problems...The Bailey DVs came with a different type of clip to replace those wretched ones and I replaced em all (see my sig for pics...)

DV's

The Bosch DV's were probably installed when the engine was still on the stand, which explains the clamps facing towards the engine front. Since I had no use for the OEM Bosch DV's, I bought a short hack saw and cut them off just above the manifold. This gave me easy access to the manifold clamps.
Made the change out a lot easier.

did you guys install the new DVs connected to the main hose (the one in misindi's pic) or one at a time...rear DV to bottom clamp then to rear main clamp...front dv to front bottom clamp and finally front DV to front main clamp?

I removed the manifold (main hose) from the car first. I installed the rear DV on the manifold first before installing the manifold in the car. Once the manifold was installed, I put on the rear DV. If you put both DV's on at the same time, you will not be able to access the manifold clamps. Good luck. Hope you have small hands. My Dad always told me to marry a woman with small hands.
