GT2 front spoiler duct
GT2 front spoiler duct
I was wondering, short of replacing the front spoiler is there a quality stick on GT2 lookalike solution available for the bit just beneath the bonnet, which does not look cheap and nasty? Did anyone cut into the original spoiler with good results? If cutting, what problems were encountered? What’s underneath? Can hole be cut and GT2 duct with all relevant parts properly installed? Opinions please.
Are you talking about putting a gt2 bumper duct (like you have pictured) on a non-gt2 front bumper and running the appropriate duct work? I inquired about this from some repuatble body shops and was told that it was not going to work due to the configuration of the turbo front bumper and would only work with a gt2 style front bumper...
can you cut it and put in the GT2 vent yes, chance of it looking factory and nice Slim depending on your body guy.
the problem en lies with the urethane bumper is bondo/filler doesn't stick that well to it and smoothing the cutting to install the bumper wont be easy. (will probably climb quickly in the labor department)
will it operate like a gt2 vent no need the ducting and brackets to rotate the radiator for that.
the best bet is to get a new bumper.

and honestly I thought about it more and came to the conclusion that it looks right on the Gt2 bumper I don't know that it would look as "right" on the factory turbo bumper ...heck who knows maybe someone has done this and can post pics?
Just food for thought:
Porsche 996 Turbos do not scream performance. They're the "thinking" car because it's in the engineering, not the style, where they excel.
Most non-Porsche folks won't notice the difference with the GT2 vent present or not. That leaves those in-the-know who would notice the vent, then notice it's a fake. Cred points lost. It's form follows function in the Porsche world.
Get an American muscle car it you want fake hood scoops.
Isn't it really better to be faster than you look? Nothing better than smokin' a pimped out ricer.

i got a gt2 bumper instead...looks amazing and really changed the look of the car, i had always thought the front of the car let the rest of the car down, the rear is one of the best rear ends on a car yet the front always looked a bit plain imo
