Sounded like the salesman had a previous record of drug and alcahol abuse so the question remains why was he ever hired in the first place ? I'm assuming no background check was ever done. Expensive mistake.

I totally agree that speeding under the influence is the primary cause of this very unfortunate and preventable tragedy.

What I also find shocking is how heavy handed and unfriendly the traffic laws are in VA. Reckless driving for 20+ or over 80 mph on any road! RD is not a traffic offense but is rather a crime punishable by jail time and/or license revocation?!! What has happened in VA?

Yeah, you don't want to mess around in VA. I've been jailed for speeding before and it wasn't very fun. The first thing the judge said to everyone in the courtroom? "If you were going over 90, you're going to jail. No ifs, ands, or buts."
