Oil Analysis

Sometimes my car sounds like it has a diesel engine so I changed the oil and used M1 5-40 TDT from the previous regular M1 0-40. No real change in sound.

I sent an oil sample to Blackstone and got back the results yesterday. I'm pretty happy with the results. This needs to be done a few times to spot trends but still this is better than I expected. There are some numbers that are high though, does anyone care to comment on them?

I've read a lot regarding viscosity recommendations for the 996TT and agreed with my indie's recommendation for 15W-40 Mobil 1. The additive package is much better and the base viscosity is fine, even here in MD.

I've been very impressed with the folks at At Speed Motorsports in Hanover who made those recommendations. Just a referral since you may be in the area.

Congrats on a good engine.

The rattle noise has concerned me, since it's so prominent. But I am relieved with the results. I have an oil leak at the front bottom of the engine (rear of car) that will have to be addressed, likely in an expensive way. Still, good result.
