Borrowing a Durametric tomorrow, what should I log?
A friend is lending me his durametric for the day. Other than looking for fault codes and lambda under boost, what should I do with it?
Since he has never used it other than to read fault codes, how do I go about reading lambda (which is really the only item I care about).
Also, he bought it used and is the 2nd user. Since he knows after I use it the 3 vin limit will be done, what is a fair price to pay should he be willing to part with it, or better yet, is it worth buying or just borrow it if I need it in the future?
Thanks
Scott

Assuming it version 6:
RPM
Load
Intake Air Temp
Ignition Angle
Oxygen sensing bank 1 Lambda Value
Oxygen sensing bank 2 Lambda Value
Boost Pressure of Sensor
As far as buying it, if its the later model cable that supports V6 beta, I don't leave home without it. Should be your first mod.
You can log the same stuff with v5, but the sampling rate will be somewhat low.

Earl3 and Bonehead, Thanks for the quick replies!!
Will it tell me if I'm flashed or chipped? I have seen 7100 or so before feeling the rev limiter, but only 0.7 bar, so I wonder if I'm flashed and have a boost leak or if the gauge faces are improperly installed.
If its v5, am I wasting my time logging? I at least want to make sure Im not lean.
Earl3, you mention you dont leave home with out it. How often do you use it?
Thanks again

v5 is fine, just make sure to do a full 4th gear pull (2500-6500) to get some decent samples. Sounds like you're flashed with the limiter but boost should be higher, the log will tell. Lambda will tell you if you're in the ballpark with the tune, but the ignition angle will tell you if the engine is seeing knock -both parameters are equally important IMO.
I keep a mini laptop in the car and do a log every time I drive but I also have an EBC (electronic boost controller) to complicate the situation.

Although if it isn't the current version, personally I'd want the latest unit/upgrade/software version
What is the correct procedure to use the Durametric?
Start car then plug in or plug in 1st then start? can I disconnect it while car is running?
Hopefully I'll get to logging tomorrow morning

either way should work, though I usually turn the key to on, connect it, then start. I shut the car off then remove but I dont think it will hurt anything if you remove it with the engine on.
