Aerodude, I do not own a 996TT, but do know how fun they can be on the track! Glad you had a great time.

Quote: Yes, but the track mod bug (if you get it) is significantly worse than the street mod bug.
I couldn't agree more. I'm not sure how anyone can track a car and not find it light-years more enjoyable than playing around on the street or drag racing.

Agree exactly about the track, it's an absolute blast and if any car in the world is made to take it, it's a Porsche. Laguna Seca has the coolest photos.. how does that work? Like Disneyland? when you get off the track they ask you if you want pics?

But this IS a street car. I don't daily drive my car and have 3 kids under 9. It sure is great getting in the turbo once in while even if it's just getting to work to lift the spirits and motivate one for the day. Yes, I'm going to get the third degree one day, but so far I've only been singed once in 6 + years. The cop saw a 2-3 pull to 70 or so in a 45. Doesn't take long to get there.. He did say "nice car" after I told him the car only comes out on Fridays.

Quote: When I'm in my turbo I want to drive it to it's full potential which means on track with no cops watching. I can drive my truck all day long with the soccer moms at 80 mph. Plus after tracking for a few years now I have learned that most people on the street are only half aware of what's going on around them, so that's no place to be hauling *** at this car capabilities.

For the track day I went to, there was a photographer there who took pictures for most of the day. At the end of the day, you could take a look at the shots and decide what you wanted to buy. Yup -- kind of like Disneyland. I thought the photographer did a really nice job of capturing the sense of speed.

Hey Tony -- Absolutely! Your car FAR exceeds the capabilities of many of the cars out at the track events. In fact, I'd say any model Porsche would be a blast on the track.

You'd be surprised at how many different makes and models of cars there are out there at some of these events. I've seen pickup trucks and even a minivan (OK -- that one was a bit slow ). Most sport/performance cars (even bone stock) are rarely driven at their capabilities on the street, let alone on a track. My first experience at the track back in the day was in a 120HP Mazda Miata (1.6L engine). Later on, I added a supercharger and probably got around 150-160HP.

I was at Pocono Raceway yesterday, and my friend in his 328i sedan was passing some cars that are much faster on paper. There was someone in a Jaguar XJS sedan, which seemed REALLY strange on the track given there were a few Ferrari Californias running at the same event, but the driver was having a great time. This was a self described non-competitive event, and he was running with the Greens, so other events may have some people who aren't pleased by slower drivers. I let a few Z-06s blow by me on the front straight, as I was there to have fun, and most importantly keep my car right side up and out of the wall. I did both.
