Rather Interesting Day
I was invited to bring by car to The Alameda Naval Air Station today by Alex Phiefer. Hope I spelled that correctly. The Drift Exposition put on by someone who is introducing a new Video drift car game and Skippy Race School. The food and beverages were free and the food was very good.
Along with Alex, there were three other drift champions there. They performed exibitions and then took anyone who wanted, out for a full speed drift ride around the circut.
I was very surprised when I arrived as my car was immediately surrounded by the media and then directed to the track. They had me park my car with the other exibition cars and MTV took video's inside and out. Alex then took the cjv/s car go out for a run. The first pass was cautious. The second pass care was tossed to the wind as he had all four tires smoking through the drift turns. There was a blanket of smoke about 200 yards long and about 30 ft high. The spectators could hear Alex feathering the turbo's through the drift turns as the car was going one way and the front wheels were pointed the other way. The asphalt was literally smoking.
Who says a turbo won't drift?
