pits on chrome wheels

on my back 2 wheels the chrome has pitted a little bit on the lip and inside the wheel. definitely due to my own laziness. i can actually feel the pits when i rub my fingers on the lip so it is not just a discoloration. anyway, can i polish this out or do i need to rechrome the wheel? if this is my only alternative does anyone have any recommendations on a wheel shop that does a good job on this? thanks in advance
