Its not the $40 at all. I just bought a $2K wide angle lens for my Nikon at a NY Photo Shop for a nice discount. Its the principal of the thing and how they get away with price fixing.

I probably will get a brand new V1 but will always be a little PO'd that this product isnt distributed by our local stores and is never on sale. Even P cars are discounted!!

Price fixing is when competitors conspire to set a price for similar products. Valentine One can charge any price they want for their product and they don't have to sell it through stores if they don't want to. This is called the free enterprise system. Obviously Valentine sells plenty of them via this method and they don't need to distribute through stores.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with this.

Even though V1 charges a high price, it is well worth it and remember Escort and Bel have both filed for bankrupcy in the past so who do you trust more??

Hell, i dont care if they're bankrupt or not... I just like the fact that the V1 is the best- can't go wrong spending a few hundcred bucks more to get out of a few hundred dollar speeding tickets

it is true though, each ticket avoided saves an easy $2k on fines and insurance raises on several cars for 3+ years.

and even then, you'll pay $350 for an older model!

I have my v1 hardwired in 4 different cars so I can switch it around

Your welcome because based on your comments above it appears you had forgotten what it meant!

saved me good just today. it paid for itself several times today alone in the speeding fine avoided and the increased auto premium on several cars for 3+ years.

How " cheap " are the V1 competitors when they have to be thrown away every couple years due to outdated programming, superceded by the " new " version. . The V1 can be reflashed continuosly. Over time , it's actually a bargain.

Not only can it get reflashed, if they change the hardware inside, the upgrade will be a brand new unit for you at half the price!!!
