Picking up car after GT2 Master/Slave Conversion Today

I'm giddy with excitement. I had a failed accumulator on my newly purchased 2001 Turbo, and hated the feel of the clutch compared to the one on my old 996 NA. I'll lett y'all know how it feels this evening (if I ever stop driving it!)

Sorry if you don't care... I just had to share my excitement with somebody! I had my mechanic flush all the fluids, replace the coolant hoses, and the idler/tensioner and serpentine belt while he was in there.

I'll be installing the 997 GT3 Shifter this weekend...

Well I'm keenly interested because that's my next purchase as part of a whole GT2 clutch upgrade.

Thanks guys... i'll let you know how it goes... jsporsche, what clutch/pressure plate you going with?
When my current clutch goes out i'm thinking of going with something like the AWE stage 2.5 (or equivalent) so I can upgrade to K16/16g turbos.

comparing my old x50 to my current gt2...the clutch is more predictable and stiffer but not super hard, just firmer and more positive feeling...you sense the movement and mechanism more...you should like the change. the x50 had an ambigous feel...the gt2 is precise.

I have a stock setup... which I replaced due to it failing. Your comments about how hard the clutch is reminded me of car I just had for a day. The Audi RS4's clutch was so hard my leg hurt at the end of the day... extremely stiff.

I guess you can get use to it (like my old 930) but it just seemed annoying at times. I guess if you track the car more than you drive on the street it would be worth it.

Congrats on the install and the new car.

Bryan

I haven't figured out what to do about the clutch yet. So I'm interested in what all you did.

I have about 20K miles left on mine. But I think the power upgrades will take care of that quicker.

Let me know how the 997 shifter is, I'm interested in doing that or an SSK. And grats on the conversion! The previous owner of mine did it so I don't know what it feels like stock, but mine is pretty sweet.

I had the conversion done about two years ago. It's one of my favorite mods. I love that I can actually feel the clutch engage.

After a while I didn't notice the stiffness. I got used to it to the point of not noticing.

I also no longer notice the stiffness. Much more fun to drive now (and no more accumulator failures!). The only thing this upgrade did to my driving habits is that now, at lights, drive-thrus, etc..., I pull my foot of the clutch and rest in neutral (the assisted system is so light I would usually just sit at lights with the clutch pedal depressed). Excellent upgrade and you will get used to teh extra stiffness just fine.
