Noob 996TT owner (mods)

Hello all, I just "pulled the trigger" (Porsche #30!) on a bone stock 05' cab/tip and want some advice on mods. My budget is around 5k. What is the normal mod progression and are the evoms kits worth their prices?
thanks!

First of all, Thank you for your service! Flash only, most noticeable, affordable power upgrade, period. If you want to lower the car and improve handling considerably, Bilstien PSS-10 coilovers...easily adjustable,...there goes your 5 grand, but worth every penny.

Thank you! (my 10th combat rotation)

I've done a little research on this forum and it seems the softronic flash gets quite a lot of praise while other flash programs don't seem to be as popular. the 996 will be a daily(ish) driver so how do the coilovers feel?

Lastly, I noticed a "sprint booster" for several porsche applications and wondered if a reflash corrected the lag in throttle position this product desctription seems to imply? My wife has a cayenne S and the throttle response is horrible so I thought perhaps the 996 tip would be similar...

Does anyone have any experience with this product?
Which Flash do you reccomend?

I would also suggest a tune and coilovers too; however, installation is quite expensive unless you DIY.

5k cannot really get you far in terms of performance. Since you have a Cab, another fun option is SmartTop and RemoteTop. You can do one-touch and remote (using your key) operations to the top; unlock the doors automatically...

Or get a set of aftermarket wheels to improve the appearance.

hmm, the car I bought has new rubber all the way around so I'll wait on the tires. EVOMS stage 2 looks attractive but perhaps I need up my budget.

BTW, I am a capable DIY kinda guy...Over the years, I've fixed all kinds of issues. I have yet to drop a motor on my own though.

USAF CRO, check 911tuning.com

Their stage 2 power kit is a bit under your budget, and their stage 3 is a bit over.

disclaimer! I have yet to buy anything from Markski, just forwarding some quick research hints.

Flash, exhaust, diverter valves w/F-hose, air filter/intake. Contact any of the supporting vendors here (EPL, 911tuning, EVO, AMS, Protomotive, etc...)to get started.

+1, Welcome and Enjoy the car. You can't go wrong with advise from here. Many ways to skin a cat right...You can do that power stuff with a set of $300 H&R springs. The car will ride, handle and look awesome leaving you more upgrade $$.

My .02 cents go with engine mods minus turbo's.

Then you can go up another notch when ready.

Thanks! I just couldn't find a comprehensive thread on the matter. The sheer amount of add ons is ultimately what got me out of my C4S and previuos 911s. Not owning a turbo previously, I wanted to get a few owner opinions before consulting the vendors...you get a lot better results asking the opinions of those who track their cars and have gone through several mods!

i would email vendors with your budget and let them know what you want to focus on (engine or suspension).

Go with whoever gives you the highest military discount

My PSS10's are set at 5 both front and rear. The ride is acutually a little less harsh over pot hole type bumps, but more stable/stiff in cornering. They are adjustable from 1-10, for frimness and height adjustable too, most do softer front and stiffer rear settings, which I plan to try soon. EPL, AWE, 911tuning, Softronic...all good. Yes if you do flash need to do Diverter valves, which you can install, with a few bloody knuckles.

Flash (OE Tuning, UMW, EPL, Softronic, GIAC - there are many to choose from).
Diverter valves.
Drop (coilovers or springs)
Wheels. Forgestar has nice ones that will keep you within budget if you choose lowering springs instead of coilovers.

Seriously good advice gents! I had not considered coil overs but they just made next year's list. H&R this year. Calling the vendors with my budget seems prudent...let them compete for my hard fought money. I didn't consider engine mods because my budget was relatively small but your rationale seems good I shouldn't rule it out. One thing everyone agrees on is a tune and valves. Progression is exhaust, intake, more intake, hoses, turbos...etc. Does anyone have experience with sprint booster?

I've seen the SprintBooster advertised. My understanding is that it intercepts the drive-by-wire signal, and "tricks" the car into thinking that the accelerator has been depressed faster than it actually has been. I'm not sure how much value it would add to this car, even more so when you could spend that money elsewhere. The lag you feel is probably turbo lag, and not throttle response lag. The SprintBooster won't do anything about that, but a flash and/or an exhaust certainly will. I'm not sure if anyone mentioned this above, but consider a tuner's upgrade policy when picking your tune. Some give you a credit for the first tune, whereas others do not.
