Bottom line is the part is like $140 but the dealer will kill you to change it... irony is that it can be changed without talking anything out... its next to the coil packs... 2 screws holding down the bracket which holds the sensor in place... Im almost certain its that one... otherwise there is another one on top...
If you wrench a little you can do it yourself...
log a 3rd gear pull from 2200 to 6700 WOT.
rpm
engine load,
ignition angle
oxygen sensing, lambda actual value bank 1 and 2...
boost pressure of sensor...

and look for a cam position for bank 1 and 2...

if your WOT and you see 1.5 or higher while on boost lets say at 5500 then let off... but if you dont see it until you let off then its just a spike.. the log with show it...
I would not run more then 1.2 bar on a 5 bar FPR... but thats me...
Ok, I hear you. So the part you are suggesting I need is a sensor, or bracket, or both? For other projects I have enough experience and know how to wrench on it myself, but always with someone holding my hand (DIY guide usually). I guess my question now is, how do I get access to that part as an enthusiast who does not know exactly where it is? Is there another part that there might be a guide for that I can follow, and in doing so will get me the access I need? I've done searches on the camshaft error before, and will do some looking again this weekend, however in the past I've not found any sort of guide on how to access the part. Input in this area would be extremely helpful to my cause.

Thank you for the 3rd gear pull and log suggestion, I will give that a go and see what I get.

Your thoughts and suggestions are very much appreciated, tyvm!

Most likely the 1.5 is just the spike from letting off, but a log will definitely tell. When did you do all those mod Justin? Ninja modding are you? lol
Thanks Chad for the input. Yes Markski is a true asset to our community. I cant count how many times I've seen a thread similar to mine and he has always been right on top of helping the person out. I am feeling very fortunate to have him jump in to assist me with my troubles.

Anyways, ahem, enough talk like that...

Regarding the power mods Chad, actually they were on the car when I purchased it, save for the exhaust I swapped in. I think at this point I've stated everything that has been done, save for Forge DV's. Previous owner was taking it down the K24/18g road, I haven't felt a need for any further upgrades in the power department, so it has remained as so.

I guess I have done some personal touch type mods, I'll do a few pics and a post on them at some point, I am bad about sharing, I know I shouldn't feel like its boasting (at least not here) but I do, so I hold back.

Sweet! I didn't realize you had all those mods! Yes, please share more - we are amongst friends here! I don't share a much on other medias just for that same reason!

heh, no worries big dog, I think it is about time I create a signature: )

Markski, attached is a log file of a couple 3rd gear pulls I did today. Air temp was ~70. No codes thrown during this process. Thanks so much.

Sorry to hear about your troubles with the car. If you plan on doing the camshaft position sensor yourself and aren't real experienced with knowing where things are at on the car, you'll need to remove the rear bumper, intercoolers, and heat shields so you can see everything. Markski is super experienced and probably has a mental picture of where everything is at in there and could do it with a blindfold on and not taking the bumper, intercoolers, etc off is basically like doing it with a blindfold on.

This job is definitely doable yourself but look for a DIY guide on spark plug changes to guide you on getting in there and you can change the plugs while you are in there too! It will take you a few hours to do.

By the way I see you are from Portland. That's my hometown! I'm originally from Lake Oswego and visit frequently. I plan to move back there one day.

Thanks, no worries, I'll get through it: )

Thanks for the tip, thats the kind of info I was hoping for, I am sure I can dig some sort of walk through up.

Yep, I tried to leave, but got pulled back. Glad to hear you are coming back.

Hey Justin! Logs look good to my eyes. Timing looks good, AFR looks good. One thing I would keep an eye on is injector duty. Log the injection time and to get the percent do RPM * injec time / 1200 I think.

When I had a 5bar I was over 100% with anything above 1.0 bar...

Surely that must be with 18g's, this guy only has standard K24's!

Thanks for the tip Chad, glad to hear you think the logs look ok. The boost held at 1.0 bar during the pulls, looks like I forgot to mention that above. Also thank you for the info on checking the duty cycle of the injectors, I'll give that a check at some point as well.

Slider - perfect, exactly what I need, I think...assuming the camshaft sensor can be got to from there as well. Even if not, great info, looks like a very thorough walkthrough with pictures every step of the way.

Kenco, you are correct, I do not have 18gs. I must also add, I hadn't really felt inadequate about it until you put it like that "only has standard K24's". Kidding, thanks for the observation, I'm sure your point is relevant.

Again, thank you very much everyone.

Logs say you boosted up to 1.2bar on the 2nd pull!

Didn't know that, obviously, I was basing the number I gave off my dash reading. I have seen a few people mention the dash display is not always/usually correct.

So anyways, curious to know at this point. Do you mind sharing with me how you calculated that Chad? Thanks again!

Dash number should match - Boost pressure of sensor. Take that column number and subtract the idle value (atmospheric pressure - usually around 1000 - 1bar).

Yours was around 1030. On the 2nd pull max boost (line 64) - 2223. Take that number minus the atmospheric pressure (2223 - 1030) = 1193 millibars - 1.193 bar.

You didn't see that much boost on the 1st pull - was there a difference in what you did?

I understand, thanks for the info. I might not have mashed it as hard on the first pull, attached is a third pull I did.
