A28s best for daily driver?

so I currently have A28s on my car, not the new-new billet ones, the ones just prior. Along with old Evoms/GIAC tuning. My 996 is my daily driver, and i love it. it has good power on a useable powerband. So my question would it be best to stay with these turbos for this, my daily driver? although my setup is not maxed out (no headers, Y-pipe, plenum/TBB upgrades) i know there is not leaps and bounds much further it can stretch as far as power on these turbos. while i do realize i will get some gains with the newer evomsIT tuning, and the aforementioned upgrades, the power will still be in the A28 "bracket" of power. Reading through many old threads, watching old videos of Markskis and others cars with gt30s and even gt35s has me longing for that POWER, but the rev range of useable power has me hesitant. I would love to roar down the track in a low 10 sec pass, and highway roll with some serious high power cars. but too much for a DD?

i would love any feedback from anyone with more than a28/gt28 turbos that daily drives it, or anyone with an opinion. im sure we would all love 35r power with k16 spool!

For a dd, I would say yes. But I would also get headers and exhaust.

To clarify my setup, I have A28, milltek catless exhaust, hitachi maf, evoms tuning with upgraded injectors. And soon to go on are my evoms ICs and vflow, that are sitting in my garage...

I've yet to seen another turbo in bakersfield..I travel back and forth from L.A to Bf often.

I had the old Evoms Gt28/16 which I think were one of the older set ups and when I ran my buddies new generation Alpha28 with similar mods I noticed we would spool roughly same but his power band was much nicer with much more up top power. Needless to say now I run Alpha 30's

I would suggest getting the new generation a28 after the supporting mods if you need more power up top. They full boost around 2800 which is fantastic for street driving!!

I forgot, yes, upgraded IC's are definitely a good idea.

throw these parts on and enjoy.... I think your a little confused about the turbos you have... there is only one kind of A28... thus you either have them or you dont.... Im guessing, if your car had the turbos put on a few years ago that it can be a old k16 with gt28 compressor... question? its simple.. do you have water lines as part of the turbo kit? if so then you have the A28s.. if not you do not.
Either way, keep your set up what ever it is.. changing to A28s is not the answer. you need way more then that to gain HP... and good fuel too...

I had the old K16/28 hybrids....no lag, great on the track, too. However they died out up top and make nowhere near the power that A28's, or 24/18s do.

I spent some time on the phone with Ian at Evoms some time ago. i sent him pictures of my setup to come to a conclusion as to what turbos i have, And I do have A28s. Water lines and all. But I was told that the newest generation A28 have billet wheels, which mine do not. Still ball bearing though. and my setup was installed by a shop that told me exactly the same thing, and they know a thing or 2 about these turbos.

i am also not really complaining about the speed. this car is faster than my stage 3 S4 was, and i thought that was quick! great daily driver. im just trying to see if going further than my current turbo setup would kill the daily drive-ability

I do agree but at some point the car will feel so slow that you have to upgrade

I find this pretty refreshing--a tuner recommending not to further mod. Says a lot about character.
