Best Track Tire?

After running at Pocono yesterday, I find that the stock S-02A that came with my car (18" stock wheel) are OK, but only OK. I would like to get more aggressive, ie. 2nd set of wheels with dedicated track tires.
What are your recommendations if I want to stay with stock wheel size?

if they're truly only track tires then hoosiers are the clear choice. for street and track go with the Pilot Sport Cups.

Hi. Yes, the tirerack is the place. I'm not sure you want the
AS03 compound. You may actually want the RS03 for track.

And make sure you get the TireRack to heat cycle the tires
for you. It's done correctly and cheaply and makes a big
difference in the tire life and performance. You'll want fairly
high running pressures (low 40's front mid 40's rear).

Looking up Tirerack's web site, they do not seem to have our stock sizes 295-30 and 225-40 x 18. I will call them to see if the Hoosiers come in proper sizes with matched diameter for the TT.
In your experience, are times noticably better? How many track days should I expect from a set of tires?

these are the sizes you want

45820 P245/35ZR-18
45833 P285/30ZR-18

These have the right (same) diameter, and are right for
our stock wheel sizes.

You want them in the Rs03 compound

see www.hoosiertire.com

track times will be night and day different. Depending on the track you can definitely expect to shave seconds off. The car will also feel 1000% better. Tire life totally depends on your driving style but i would say 3-4 track days is a decent estimate. . Call tirerack and they will hook you up and tell you what sizes you need.
