anyone look into the Ford GT?
i too find the GT40 to be a fabulous car. if ford can execute the car in terms of build quality and balance, it will be one of the best cars out there. it would be great to be able to get what you want from an exotic while still buying american - nothing embarassing about doing that. 1500 cars/year (3 years?) though would suggest waiting til the initial giddiness cools off (ala 996 TT) to save a lot.

I was wondering if anyone has info on how to go about buying a Ford GT. I will pay no more than MSRP, would like the car as soon as possible, and would like to deal with a dealer that has some clue what he's talking about. Anyone look into this or have a good connection at Ford?

Agreed, the GT is a sick ride. 500hp with 500 lb. ft torque. I would buy one.
Do a broadcast fax from your PC, outlining the car you want to all dealers you are willing to deal with. Have them fax you back if they want your deposit of 5-10K as Watt noted above.

again, not the question i was asking. I happen to buy and love cars taking into account everything BUT the hood emblem. If you can read what has been written on this car and look at the pictures and not think it is worth every penny then you are missing something. In fact, this is exactly what happened when the GT40 came out. Ford built a car without consideration of costs just to prove to everyone they could make the best car in the world. No one believed them. Then the GT40 spanked the Ferraris and is still my favorite car ever and right up there with the best cars ever built.

I think it looks great, I'm sure it will be a pretty fun car to drive as well....one question, is this car a replica?

I think the GT40 is a beautiful car and I would not hesitate on buying one. You would in most cased see a 360 more often then you would a GT40. The fact that it's a Ford does not bother me at all either. I plan on buying another Saleen at some point down the line it will most likely be the S281 Extreme. I have owned several mustangs and have had lots of fun in them both on the road and at local shows. There is nothing like the sound of a 428 Cobra Jet with 3" Flows on it
....or a 331 Stroker with 3" mac system
....and I will not comment on what I think of individuals who simply say Ford Sucks!! To each is own
