Wow, that's surprising! Gustav is a very reliable source also. Maybe I have to put the E60 M5 back on my list - even if it is butt ugly.

I cannot understand those who think the M5 E60 is ugly. Ill post hunreds of pics later on but it is "rock-star" fame when driving this car, at least now when it is so rare. Here is three previerw pics also:

It almost makes it seem like BMW would like it to sell over here too. They're going to offer a 6MT on next year's cars.

Though that won't make me go blind.

Black is the only way to go in my opinion. Here's some older test mule shots at The Ring.

The back looks fine. Someone will prob come out with a bumper that'll make the front look okay...

Gustav,

No doubt you'll draw much attention in that car. That makes it attracting not attractive. It's just my opinion, the new 5 and 7 series have polarized a lot of people.

it looks better in black because it hides some of the hideous lines of that butt ugly car. It suprises me that they didn't learn from the overwhelmingly negative response to the design of the 745.

great motor and technology no doubt....but ewwww.

I love the E60 and every new BMW design for that fact, it looks different. I think alot better then the previous Mercedes boring and bland design. Mercedes is getting better with the CLS and new models coming out soon. The E60 M5 will be a great competitor. 500 n/a high reving HP in a seadan which has better performance numbers then most sports cars. I love it !!!

and don't forget the 6MT which is supposed to be available after the first model yr run. Would have been a real shot in the foot if they hadn't done this.

As previous first generation early 2000 M5 owner I agree in waiting for the bugs, and there will be plenty. New engine, new transmission, probably much more. I wouldn't take a first year car even with a 10% discount, never mind a premium.

Although I've always preferred a manual in my sports cars, the 7 speed SMGIII is supposed to be awesome.
