The Ford GT is not limited production, right? I understand they are going to make 1,000 per year, so prices should get down to sticker or so within a year or so? you think? After seeing it at the auto show I really want one, but just can't bring myself to pay a huge premium.

I don't really think unmodified tt's could keep up with either of those cars. Without mods it wouldn't be much of a race.

and a good amount of mods to keep up w/ the GT, they are turning low 11's

scott's right on.
once you get into the aftermarket territory, it's like a box of chocolates.
but factory backed to factory backed comparisons... the TT trails both the US and A beasts. The Ford GT clearly owns the gawk factor over the 911 modded or unmodded.

Having recently put a Red GT just like the one in the pics thru its paces, I have to say it is the meanest car I have ever been in. The Tq is really unreal, has to be felt to be believed. The very very well known PGA golfer in the co pilot seat (who owned the car haha) had made shoe prints in the foot well cuz he was convinced we were about to meet our maker, or at least the Martin County PD. The owner golfer also had in his garage this day, a Silver 360 Spider, Silver 575 Mara, and IB ZCP M3. The GT is mind numbing, w/ the NASCAR roar coming from behind your shoulders and the road looks like it is about 2 inchs under your butt when you get in. Its funny when you stand next to it, my belt buckle was higher than the roof line. My vote for best car ever next to the CGT or ENzo, but I Have no driving exper in those so canot comment.
GT is no doubt sweet and i was smitten from the first auto show. Since then they have changed it's looks a little (and not for the better), finally got it to market over the original estimates and the dealers are charging a bloody fortune over MSRP. I've had a deposit for a long time now and haven't heard boo from the dealer. With all the recalls and the emergence of newer, less expensive contenders like the Z06, the Viper GTS, M6, etc. I seriously question if this will be my next new car.

And both problems were only found on the prototype that had a **** load of miles. You shouldn't have anything to worry about. Ford will take care of you.
Love both of them. Stock for stock both should beat stock Turbo/Turbo S/GT2- hopefully Porsche will have a response. I'll be adding a Z06 to the stable- I'm #3 on the list at a local dealer.
The Ford GT story saddens me. In development, decisions were made to keep production limited versus the alternative of bringing the car in at about $100K with higher production numbers. This rose MSRP, to $125K, then $145K and now to the current $185K. Ford dealers, who earn a living making $500 on F150s and Focus models, have gouged this car for more than it's worth. At $100K, Ford could sell alot of these cars, which would still allow dealers handsome profits, get a high-end Ford on the street and improve brand image and be fair to customers. Remember, most Ford enthusiast do not have pockets as deep as most Ferrari enthusiasts, so Ford in effect screwed its core customer base. Ford dealers are getting about $300K for these cars in Dallas- for that price I'd much rather have a Murcielago, or a Porsche, Viper and Z06.
