LIVEVIL is infamous around these parts
I'd like to stay under 80K I'd say. Both of the cars I am looking at are under that price easily.

You could also go with a 996 GT2 and get the best of both worlds, turbo performance and great handling. I am not a fan of the 997.1 GT3 rear wing, nor the wheels which I thing a attrocious. I too was looking for a GT3, but I don't think they are at the right depreciation level yet for me to go that route. Why do you think many 996 Turbo owners add the GT2 wing, Porsche made a serious mistake IMO when then went away from the bigger 930 and 993 wings. The wing has always been one of the best looking features on Porsche Turbos. I think many 997 Turbo owners also upgrade to the 997 GT2 wings. Seach Youtube for GT2 test and there are a bunch of magazine test videos for you to check out.

Yes get the Turbo.... I agree the GT3 looks better and defiantly sounds a lot better then a 996TT but on the other hand the Turbo does everything well and if you get bored you can just add more power!

I hae heard a few GT3's just frm videos posted around. I can say the Turbo I am looking at sounded rather great too. I agree the best thing about the Turbo cars was always the rear wing. I had been looking for a 993Turbo, but those seem a bit untouchable.

In your budget range there are a ton of 993's available. Look through Autotrader.com, there is a great black one that has been serviced at Ferrari of Seattle, it is mint. Remember they are just asking prices, pretty ridiculous that a 1996 or 1997 that retailed for around 105k has only depreciated 20%, at least for those crazy dealerships asking 80 even over 100k for a garage queen. Must come with free leak repairs for life.

Well my issue is I am looking for a specific color or car. I want either White, Silver, Red or Yellow. Just what I prefer. I found a nice white 993, after I called to inquire, magically the price went up $10K overnight. haha

I would be willing to spend considerably more for another type of car, but I am also restoring a 1963 Lincoln Continental that I am sure will take at least this amount to get done as I have invisioned.

I was about to suggest the same thing. With 80k, finding a 997 turbo is no problem. 997 Turbo or 996 GT2, I'd go with the 997, a reflash makes those VTG's SCARY.

996 GT2 is the answer to the problem you aren't sure you have yet. It will give you a great blend of what is great about both cars in one package, and at a price you will be comfortable with.

996 GT2 is a great car, but has well deserved reputation as "the widowmaker". I read once that 33% of 996 GT2s only 300 made haven been in an accident.

I'll take defeatable PSM any day.

I would say GT3. They look sexier, sound amazing, and being that it is a GT3, it should hold it's value well. I've never been in one, but I would guess that it is fine for everyday driving since really the GT3RS is the ***** out track car.

I'd also like to ask how the maintenance and reliability is for the Turbo car VS. the NA GT3. I have a fiend who worked at a Porsche shop and gave me more then a few stories about Turbo cars constantly being in for service, especially ones that were highly modded.
