Exhaust drill out mod question

I have been reading all the positive comments about the 996TT exhaust drill out mod that seems to somewhat bypass the stock muffler and secondary cat, but I was wondering if anyone has had any problems passing emissions with this mod. I am going to do this tomorrow, but don't want regrets if possible. I want to do a flash, but can really afford both a new exhaust system and a flash at the moment. Also, does the EPL flash effect emissions? Thanks for any info.

swoosh did a dyno test after drilling into the exhaust pipe and showed like 20TQ gains. I'll find it.

Many people that do this mod are not happy with it after a brief period and then opt for a proper aftermarket exhaust. I have had several customers complain about the "new" sound this mod makes...and then they end up buying one of our systems. That said, it's an inexpensive way to get more sound out of the OEM exhaust, but it lacks the quality sound of a good aftermarket exhaust.

I did the mod and it liked it a lot. A great / cheap solution to "fix" a way too quiet stock exhaust before taking the plunge for a different system!

Plus the mod made more hp on a dyno.

You can start out with a smaller hole and open it up as you get more comfortable with the level. I think I did a 1.25 hole.

you will not have any emissions issues. the exhaust gas has already passed through all of the emissions equipment before it gets to the your new hole where it bypasses the muffler. I think it is a great mod for the money. from all of what i have read about that mod, i dont know of anyone who didnt think it was a decent investment.
go for it!

Sounds nice down low but under load/boost at higher RPM sounds like a vacuum cleaner still.

Great mod for the money but it's just a teaser for a proper exhaust. I'm on my 3rd since then. My advice is do it right from the start and get a modular exhaust you can change without swapping the entire unit.

I still have my modded exhaust I would swap with you, fear shipping might get in the way.

I drilled the biggest hole I could and loved it.... then I got my Speed Tech 3" exhaust. It does hold you over until you can aquire a proper exhaust.
