O -rings are sold separetley fairly cheap. Use 997 ones, they seal tighter.

I am thinking if the whole lower hose from a 997 may work better. This is a bit strange. I am hoping it something stupid like the clamp being backwards. There are faster cars then mine running these intercoolers.... so I am sure its not the unit itself.

I am using the Tial alpha 28 turbo...have you tried adjusting the entire hose?

I run 1.6 bar with Protomotive 5" coolers using stock hoses & have had no problems at all.

I used long wire ties and X-Straped the connections. That was back in 2007....it's never poped off with stock hoses and intercoolers. Easy fix.

so here is what happenned in my case. on the 997 intercoolers the clamp should ONLY sit one way so that the bent ends fall inside a special groove and face up and towards the insdie of the car on the drivers side. mine was upside down so they weret as far in as the can be and wernt grabbing the whole "lip" of the intercooler. under highboost my lip simply gave out, hose blew out - smacked the ground hard and got damaged. i replaced the hose with an OEM unit and it blew out again. at that time i noticed that the clamp had some minor side to side rotation - which i knew it shouldnt have. so i thought it was either backwards or upside down, it ended up being upside down. pay close attention to how your clip sits with the 997 unit since it didnt matter with 996 units. i did two full 1/4 mile pulls 0~140 and they stayed on.

thanks for the help...I know mine were facing the right way.

I went ahead and bought a new metal fitting for my hose, new seals and new clamps (both 996 and 997 style to try). Somehow one of my metal clamps ends faces up and the other down.

Anyway, I am just going to try out the different parts I have and see what locks in the best. I bought extra pieces in case I lose some more

my original hose that popped out hit the ground and ruined one of the tabs, so if your hose did the same and the tab is messed up a litte you will need a new metal fitting like you said. so i would position the new metal fitting correctly and use 997 o-rings they are bigger and fit tighter

are you sure the 997 o-rings are different? Matt @ agency power told me they are the same rubber seal.

do you have a 997 part #?

I am 100% sure they are different. I ordered them before and compared them to my old ones. They are slighly larger and shaped a bit different. They "pop in" a lot nicer and tighter then the old 996 ones.

here is the part number i think i used and its a 996 number, but they were updated. you will see the are green, thicker and have "edges". i would get a 997 vin on ebay and call into the dealer and double check it.
