530 AWHP and 530 AWTQ - GIAC
I recently had my car re-tuned at GIAC. I actually went in to have the throttle response lightened up a bit, but got a new tune in the process
. This time I was running 109 octane gas. The tune is designed for about 100 octane gas.
I want to really thank the guys at GIAC: Garrett, Andrew, Austin and the technician Eli have been really good to me over the years. Thank you so much!!
It is important to mention 3 points:
1. It was evident from the logs that my car has a boost leak somewhere. The car was a bit slow to boost up and final boost numbers (1.3 BAR) were a full .2 BAR less than the ECU was requesting. While I don't expect to dyno the car again, it's obvious that there is still some power on the table.
2. My car runs a stock TB and intake piping
3. My super fast spooling Tial turbos (full 1.3 BAR by 3,000 RPM) are the pretty small 2860RS models. They do have a ball bearing, water cooled center section and IMO make a great street turbo. K16 type spool and obviously a lot more power.
In all I am happy with the results! This is an honest 200 AWHP more than stock.
Dyno results coming up.

I think the OP said that he had a boost leak which might've affected his numbers. On K16 billet's without an exhaust I made 480hp and 560tq. I posted this dyno sheet not long ago. I think if the OP gets the boost leak fixed, his car should be making more power.
What I don't understand is how they kept dynoing the car without fixing the boost leaks in the first place. Totally unprofessional and risky for your turbos (you'll be overspinning them with boost leaks) IMHO.

Wow...I missed the main point here about the type of turbos and condition....Maybe that is not so good of numbers,,,hopefully you and GIAC will do better after the boost leak problem....I think it should have been addressed before the tuning,,IMO
Subscribe for tuners / sponsor opinions. I think they are great #'s in general....I was always under the presumption those turbos + race gas could produce a lot more.
Johnspeed - what are you laying down with your 24/18G setup?

I think the numbers are about right for the GT28s. GT28s are not meant for top-end speed. These turbos have the fast spooling of K16 billets and almost the top end (but not quite) of the K24/18g.
I think some of you have been reading too much of the A3076s.

The OP's numbers sound low, but the .2 bar boost leak is probably the culprit IMHO.
May I ask which board sponsor and the link to the posts please?
Can't speak for anyone else, but i realize the OP's GT2860rs turbos from Tial aren't the same as Tial's newer A2868 billet offering. That said, the discrepancy in results seems too large to be just that, IMHO.
