Can you provide more detail on the install without pulling the motor ?

Is this something that could be done in my garage with jackstands ? or is it difficult to accomplish without dropping the motor ? I assume you must cut the stock piping in order to remove it ?

Thanks.

If $200 doesn't make sense, you can always buy the FVD piece for $2,127.99. I used to have this installed on my car, but was told by Kaspar it was causing the blown MAFs, a number of years ago when I first had GT28s intalled.

the hard part is cutting the OEM out... putting ours in is as easy as lowering the motor...

here is a pic...

One tip for the jack stand installers... We had to Saw-za a portion of the stock tubing out even with the motor down as low as it could go. There was plenty of room for the saw-za but it slipped right out after.

Thank you, Sir!

I will respond to you tomorrow. I just clicked briefly and read the PM and since I am falling out from a very long week, I will respond tomorrow in kind.

Ever since I had put a similar one in (hard plenum/soft tubes) I noticed my ABS/PSM lights come on frequently and off just as frequently but no stutter or choking like a normal bad MAF... think that these could cause that problem?

We have sold many of these kits with the plenum and hard pipe and never had that problem. I have had one on my personal car for a couple of years without any CEL's whatsoever. No MAF problems either.

you probably created some vacuum leak and or disrupted something else while installing... heck, check if the maf is busted... reading codes would help instead of guessing too...

Markski,

Is that flexible tubing (the stuff that looks like a vacuum cleaner tube) durable? Any chance that the heat/vibration/generally-harsh-environment of the engine bay might develop a crack or tear in one of the folds down the road?

Just curious - both the 911 Tuning kits (rigid or flexible) and the Speedtech kit look like they're well-thought out and well made, IMHO.

Are your kits install by lowering the engine as well?

-40° to +250° F temp range...

I havent had any issues.... the hard piping, my own as well, is hard to install and requires a engine drop with considerable fine tuning of the pipes... and If the hard pipe rubs it will eventually break thru.... the flex pipe will not...

Yes, it can be installed by lowering the motor - engine removal is not necessary. I had one customer do it in his garage with no lift! I would not recommend that, but with the car on a lift, I have had several shops do it and I have done it myself that way.

We use a very heavy duty, thick walled (1/4" thick), hard plastic piping for good reason. Specifically because it will not wear through or puncture from kicked up road debris. I would agree that a thin walled hard pipe of any material could wear through, but these 1/4" thick pipes are designed to withstand the intended application for the life of the vehicle. As an example, I have had the hard plastic pipes on my car for 6 years/60,000 miles and have had occasion to drop the motor twice during that time, once as recently as last year. I noticed scuffing on the pipe in a couple of spots, but it did not noticably wear away any material from the pipe. I commented to myself at that time that I was glad I did not use soft hose, as I am certain, beyond a doubt, that it would have worn through. The chafing occurs in an area that can not be seen without dropping the motor, so if a hole were to develop, you would suck in dust, sand and possibly small stones for an extended period of time without even knowing it or until your turbos or motor showed signs. I will not sell a kit with the soft hose, as I personally feel it does not provide adequate protection in the event of extended vibration/chafing or puncture and I am not comfortable with the long term reliability given all that these pipes are exposed to in their life on the car. The liability and consequences are too great, if the turbos start to inhale debris. The carbon fiber inlet pipes have shattered when road debris was kicked up causing catastophic turbo damage and I am aware of soft hose failing. Below is a picture of our thick walled plastic - anything can wear through if improperly installed, even the OEM pipes, but after looking at these, you can tell it's just never going to happen...and this material is very, very tough stuff - virtually indestructible.
