Does the civilized feel make you bored? What do you do?

I miss the violent throw back of small displacement engine with a huge turbo, you know, going from 150hp to 500 from boost
My 996tt only has that feeling if I am sitting in the passenger seat, and while my friend never turns down an offer to drive me around in the p-car, its not the same when I am driving. In fact, I get more of that from my wife's e90 335i with auto trans and a JB4. I suppose the fact is that you don't know when it will shift so you can't anticipate the sudden acceleration.
So, for those of you who may have gotten used to it, what do you do?
I suppose the obvious thing is upgrade... but even after an upgrade will you feel 'it'?
Currently on K24's, no flash (UMW is looking good right now), or possibility going with a 2A kit from Kevin or Alpha A28, 24/18, 24/20, etc
