Stepped lip still has its place, looks better on certain muscle cars such as the Viper or Vette. It is a more muscular look. The reverse lip with the huge lip is more of an import / Japanese styling that is catching on now. On the Porsche you can go either way and it looks nice.
I agree........it still has it's place & can look very good.
I have both.........and would only add on the 'strength' issue, that probably more often than not you sacrifice some strength on a deep lip reverse drop (vs traditional stepped......I've bent my reverse, never my stepped).......and mounting, anyone who has mounted or dismounted 19" rubber from a reverse drop rim will tell you it's a bit more of a task (I'd have someone who has done it before).

Good luck.

I liked the stepped lip for it's added durability. I had the 20" stepped rims on my recently sold M3. I loved them. However, I decided on the reverse lip for my C2 because the centers are obviously bigger and also allows for a bigger lip which IMO is simply SEXY!! At times, the stepped lip bothered me as the small centers made the rims look small even though the entire rim size was a 20"er.

i think stepped rims look great on some ferraris. the R wheels look absolutely sick on the turbo.

especially with black centers.
