Sounds funny but this is exactly what I did in my mother's SL.

Sometimes you just don't notice that cable and Merc had that plugged into a trunk located 12v socket...

I have the CTek 3300 connected to the cigarette lighter. Works great .. I do drop the window down 1/4 inch or so to save the CTEK cable from getting nicked.
