Since I'm running pump gas only, would a the 3076 be a better choice, as I can make more power on lower boost?
Only difference between the two for highway pulls will be the amount of jail time

I had a conversation with Jake from Tial and asked him IF I was going to move up from my K24/18gs with my supporting mods which ones would be better for my street /pump gas driving....He said if I was not going to build up my internals and keep a stock block,,the 3071's all around...
I guess you should really talk straight to him.....

We are using the Alpha 30's with the A/R79 housing instead of the larger A/R81. The motor is 4.3L. No MAF .... speed density.

Would like to know more about this housing. Is it internal wastegate??

Why would you go with a smaller A/R on a 4.3L motor?

Shorter time for the turbo's to spool up. The 79 A/R housings will hit their sweet spot just after 2500 rpm's. Better response exiting the racing apex.

I know the basic answer but between 79 and 82 how much can you possibly gain?

Around the tight tracks and in the twisties ...... it is hugh.

Place the larger A/R turbo's next to the smaller ones @ 2500/3000 rpm's (with my set up) and accelerate. The higher A/R's will be counting a thousand one a thousand two or more waiting for the power to hit.

If one the has, space and the constant ability to live in higher rpm's the go for the higher A/R's. I didn't say this is to everyone's liking. It wouldn't be the ideal set up in the quarter, top speed contests or open/oval tracks, but that isn't where I have my fun. To each their own .... just know what you like and build it accordingly.

I guess where I was going is have you tested both AR's with your set up and have actual data to show . I know you have done crazy testing over the years so not busting ***** but legitimately asking.

I have worked with different A/R's but they were larger turbo's GT35R and GT42R's.

I choose the A/R79's over the A/R82's based on Tial's recommendation based on what rpm the two housings would come into their sweet spot on the curve with my motor.

The A/R79's will be at that spot at 2500/2600 rpm's with the stroker motor. The A/R82's would get their further up the rpm line.

These Alpha GT30 turbo's with the A/R79 housing, motorsport bearings and billet impellers must have given Tail indigestion as we have been waiting two months so we can get on with the engine dyno testing.

I agree there is a sweet spot for every build at that level. Greg's input has always led me in the right direction.

Think it will be an overkill for autocross?
