I had my system for about a year before finally getting hooked up with the midbass driver and once I got it the system was perfect. The Reus system has it all...
- Accurate imaging and soundstage
- Loud as hell - you can turn it up as loud as you want without distorting. I really mean LOUD! In my cab, people said that they could hear me coming down the street. 100mph with the top down and the music is as clear as can be.
- The system is totally invisible. You would never be able to tell that anything was done to the car.
- Support - they really stand behind their stuff. I had a sub surround go bad and they sent a guy out to me and replaced the sub in the parking lot of my office at no charge.
- Support support support - They came out again just to add an XM module and antenna to my Alpine head unit.
- Support support support support - I went to Reus to get my midbass driver installed and Rick took me out to a great Cuban place nearby. NOW THAT'S WHAT I CALL CUSTOMER SUPPORT!
It's one of those things. I was once in your shoes. It's a lot of money to spend for something without hearing it or seeing it. BUT you have to hear it to believe it. You also have to remember. They have probably done a few hundred systems so you know they will take care of your car and do it right as opposed to the stereo guy in your neighborhood that has done 2 or 3 Porsches.
I have seen some killer stereo systems in Porsches, I have some serious aftermarket stereo systems in two of my other cars and several of my previous cars. Sure you can do a serious sealed enclosure with fiberglass work and lots of power in a 996 coupe but you can't do it in a cab unless you take out the back seats. Also, by the time you add a serious MDF enclosure with a good quality 10" sub or something really awesome like the JL W7 sub, you also add weight and weight is not exactly something you want in a Porsche.
Anyways, to make a long story short. I've been in your shoes. Just do it! You will never regret it. Just make sure you get the midbass driver. The Eclipse looks funky but it really is a nice sounding headunit. Rick says that the stock headunit is ok but that's just because the Reus system can make anything sound good. If you did not do a Reus system and just changed out the stock head unit, you would see a tremendous difference in sound quality.

Better do it soon. hint hint.
I like Reus stuff. I think they make great solutions for upgrading your car audio. I've got two of their systems at the moment.
My 2000 Cab - subwoofer in trunk, woofer mounted to right of center console, all speakers replaced, mirror with tiny mirror tweaters, Becker TrafficPro head (just like stock head, but with Nav instead of tape player).
Started with just the sub in the trunk, and didn't like it. Added the center console woofer and mirror tweaters, and this improved it 1000%. Like it better than the system in my TT. Killer, crisp clear sound even with the top down and sport exhaust.
2002 TT - same basic setup, but speaker cabinet behind rear seat with woofers to replace Bose setup. Sounded way better than cab, until I upgraded the cab with the midbass woofer and mirror tweaters.
Warning - watch the volume level, and consider ear plugs. If your ears are ringing, you've damaged your ears, and you need to take care of them!

Kurt,
The answer is yes. It takes the place of the blose sub in the passenger side.

Kurt,
Do I need the mirror tweeters?
Did you replace your entire system or did you add the 2 woofers and the mirror tweeters to you existing system?
I couldn't tell by your description, and by the way your cab looks fantastic.

As DJ says, no you don't need the mirror tweeters. However, that's an inexpensive component and it does brighten up the sound and add some presence. I would do them.
I did the cab in two stages. First stage did not include the midrange woofer that mounts to the right of the center console. I didn't like the sound very much. I added the woofer and mirror tweeters, and it transformed the system for me. Very happy now!
